ITINERARY:
7 DAYS TOUR FROM TANGIER
We will pick you up at your hotel or wherever you tell us during the first day of your 8 days Morocco tour from Tangier to start our sightseeing program. We will tour the Rif Mountains, which are located in the north of Morocco and have a great variety of plants and are inhabited by the Berbers of the Rif. One of the things that make this mountain range unique is that it is surrounded by a large number of villages whose inhabitants have a full life. We will be able to see all the villages and see what mountain life is like for them.
Chefchaouen, Chaouen, Xauen and Chichauen are names that refer to a beautiful village in the Rif Mountains. It is located between two mountains and surrounded by fields showing its white houses. Its indigo blue paint coloring repellent mosquitoes confuses its horizon with the sky. Its small alleys surprise and make it one of the quietest places in Morocco to walk and contemplate this beautiful city.
A focal point of the medina is the Outa El-Hammam square. It is a quiet, safe and welcoming neighborhood due to its unique tonality and structure of narrow streets, many of them dead ends. Overnight stay and dinner at the riad.
After breakfast, you will leave your accommodation in Chefchaouen and head to Fez. Today's route passes through Ouazzane. On our way, we will stop at Volubilis, the oldest Roman post in southern Morocco. There, you can observe the heyday of the Roman Empire and marvel at the mosaic floors of the ruined villas. After passing through Meknes, we will visit the Medina and El Hedim square. We will have lunch in Meknes after visiting the main attractions of the city, such as the impressive Bab El Mansour entrance and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail in the vicinity. We will continue our route to Fez in the afternoon, which is the royal capital of Morocco. There you will spend the night in a hotel or riad.
Built as the first political, religious and cultural capital in 808, Fez is one of the oldest imperial capitals in the world, and after breakfast, you will meet our local guide for a full day tour. The visit begins at the Golden Gates of the Royal Palace. Afterwards, from a nearby lookout point, we will observe the wall of an ancient medina from a bird's eye view. Afterwards, we will head out on foot to encounter a lot of unpleasant feelings. Before reaching the tanners' quarter, we will visit some mosques and madrassas. We will continue our tour and stop for lunch at a community of artists. Thanks to the knowledge that its inhabitants brought from Spain and their preservation of Andalusian art and culture, Fez has deservedly earned the reputation of "city of artisans". Spend the night staying in a hotel or riad.
Our 7 DAYS TOUR FROM TANGER TO MARRAKECH begins with a scenic drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, arriving in Ifrane, known as the "Switzerland of Morocco" due to its pictorial resemblance to a Swiss ski resort. Next, we venture into the cedar forest, where we encounter and interact with the cheerful Barbary macaque monkeys, capturing memorable photographs with them. Continuing our route south, we pass through charming Berber villages and wander through the countryside, witnessing nomadic shepherds tending their herds amidst the vast terrain. After a refreshing lunch break in Midelt, we continue over the Talghmt Pass, enjoying panoramic views of the stunning oasis hidden in the Ziz Valley, adorned with palm trees and mud villages. As the day progresses, we arrive in the Sahara Desert in the late afternoon, where we settle into our hotel for a delicious dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.
To fully enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Sahara, it is essential to get up early in the morning, which will allow you to witness the sunrise of your life. Board the camels and return to the hotel, where you will meet your driver. Our route west takes us through Rissani, a town known in the past as a vital trading center for caravans passing through Morocco and neighboring countries. If we coincide with the daytime markets held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, we will have the opportunity to explore the largest souk in the region. Continuing our expedition, we will reach Erfoud, a city famous for its fossil discoveries. Passing through picturesque Atlas Mountains and charming villages, we will head to the enchanting Todra Valley, a green oasis surrounded by ancient adobe villages. We will enjoy a delicious lunch in the village before venturing some 15 kilometers to reach the breathtaking Todra Gorges. Here, vertical cliffs rise up to 300 meters, while natural springs cascade down. Our journey continues through the captivating Dades Valley, where you will marvel at the sandcastle-like formations and peculiar rock structures affectionately known as "monkey fingers". Conclude the day by staying overnight in a hotel or riad that offers picturesque views of the Dades Valley.
After a satisfying breakfast, we set off for Ouarzazate, passing through captivating destinations along the way. Our first stop will take us to the famous winding road, famous for its appearances in numerous car commercials. Next, we will explore the breathtaking Dades Gorges, admiring its amazing rock formations. Going off the beaten path, we arrive at Boutghrar, a place where the beauty of nature harmonizes with vibrant colors. Here we will have the opportunity to visit the nomads who live in caves and share a cup of hot tea with them. Continuing our expedition, we reach El Kalaa Mgouna, also known as the City of Roses, where locals annually collect more than 400 tons of rose petals, which are skillfully processed into exquisite rose water, creams and perfumes in local cooperatives. This vibrant town celebrates a festival in May in honor of roses in bloom. Enjoy a delicious lunch in town before continuing along the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs to Skoura. Skoura is famous for its captivating kasbahs, and we will visit the 17th century Kasbah of Amridil. Passing through the lush oases of Skoura, we will arrive in Ouarzazate, where we will enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night in a comfortable hotel or riad, ready to continue our adventure.
The day begins with a visit to Ouarzazate's famous film studios, also known as "Africa's Hollywood". Numerous film productions, including well-known series such as Game of Thrones and the fourth season of Prison Break, have used these studios as a backdrop. Ouarzazate is famous for its handicrafts, such as wooden doors, silverware and carpets, as well as for housing the largest solar power plant in Africa. Our next destination will be the impressive Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Several international movies, such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia and Game of Thrones, have used this historic fortress. We embark on a breathtaking drive through the picturesque Tizi n'Tichka Pass, which reaches an altitude of 2,260 meters as we traverse the High Atlas Mountains as our adventure draws to a close. As we arrive at your hotel in Marrakech, you will have the opportunity to admire the unique Berber villages that dot the landscape.
